Festivus for the rest of us!

This is just a reminder for everyone that Festivus is December 23rd. This is a holiday to celebrate the "Airing of Grievances" and the "Feats of Strength." We will replace our Christmas tree for the day with the Festivus Pole.

National Roast Suckling Pig Day

Well, I always like to look at the bizzare American holidays, and I am quite sad because on the 16th, we all missed chocolate covered anything day. So to make up for it, we should celebrate "National Roast Suckling Pig Day!" While there is not any factual information on this bizzare holiday, it is speculated that it came from some kind of holiday just in advance of Christmas. Especially it will be great to celebrate it since everyone is not busy with the holidays at all, and surely have time for roasting a suckling pig. Enjoy. Sad Faces on the last day of the cruise! The picures speak for themselves.

This is a series of pictures I felt was important to put up. (And also these were easily accessible). Kim decided to take all these pictures when were gathering up the luggage once we were back in Seattle and on our way to real life. We all had such a great vacation, you can see from the looks on our faces that we were sad to see it over. These pictures are posed, by the way, but the sentiment is all real. Thanks Pam and Pete.

Here is Chris looking so studley in his flight gear for his shoot of the air show.


This is one of the pictures I took with the multiburst function of the FA-18 taking off from the flight deck. I have not had time to crop them into individual photos yet, but it was so awesome to see the jets so close. The first time one took off with the catapult, I actually missed it because it was so fast!

This is a helicopter getting ready to land during the air show. They also had a bunch of guys shimmy down a rope onto the flight deck. It was way cool.

We had a great time on the cruise. We got to go into the air traffic control room, but if I took pictures in there, they would have to kill me. Sorry everyone, I did not risk my life for fun blog pictures.

The Ice Bird Challenge...

It is no secret who is a professional photographer in our family, so this post is not about that. But I did not realize the enormous difference between Chris' Navy camera and my point and shoot camera.

This picture is one I took at the Mendenhall Glacier, with a great camera. If you look in the near distance...you can see a small hunk of ice that looks very similar to a bird preparing to drink the refreshing glacier water. Cute huh?





Here's Chris' shot of the same ice bird, from the same place, but with his Navy camera.

There is not a lot to say but WOW.

I sure am glad Chris was there to really let us see the bird.

I think it is pretty cool.

Trying it again...

Ok- I am trying to get into posting on a blog again, but it is sort of silly because I have not told anyone that I have it. I am wanting to find interesting things to share before I start bragging about my awesome thoughts. Just kidding. But I do want to learn how to make it cool before I tell everyone.

I thought I would post pictures and tell stories of the cruise. At least, it will be fun to remember these things.

Here is Kelcey and I, at the park around the Mendenhall Glacier. The Hoopers, Dad, Mom, Chris, Eric and I took a hike after viewing the glacier. The trail we took was closed due to a bridge failure, and we risked our lives crossing this one...hoping that it was not the broken one. (Before this picture is when we really tested it). But in looking at this picture later, I thought, man, Kelcey and I really look alike. Kind of a fun thing to notice.

These are two of my nieces. They are crazy kids. The point of this is to see how to post with pictures.
They sure are sweet.

My First Post

This is my first post, and I don't know how to do it. I am open to any help anyone wants to throw out, but since I have not told anyone about it, I am not sure who will see it. mainly, I just want to play around and learn how to do it.
